Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager will:
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians and skilled laborers. Establish weekly work schedules, assess productivity of personnel, and conduct periodic performance reviews. Assess training needs for department personnel and develop plans to address those needs. Monitor overall department workload, make recommendations for staffing, and take an active role in the hiring process for the department.
  • Institute a proactive approach to company-wide maintenance activities that includes a robust plan for preventative maintenance. Motivate the maintenance team to act with a sense of urgency in reactive repair situations with an overall goal of minimizing production downtime and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Maintain open communication related to all maintenance activity. Attend periodic asset maintenance planning meetings prepared to communicate status updates for existing work orders and planned capital projects. Establish accurate project schedules and work with the production team to help establish priority.
  • Work to develop a culture of continuous improvement at Butech-Bliss. Lead and participate in projects with the overall goal of improving manufacturing operations. Establish departmental metrics tied to overall company goals and track performance. Evaluate, justify, and introduce new technology that provides measurable benefits the company.
  • Comply with all Butech-Bliss safety rules, be an active participant in safety initiatives, encourage safe work practices among other employees, and complete incident reporting as required.


Strong candidates for this position will meet the following expectations:
  • An associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • The maintenance manager will have a minimum of 10 years combined experience in mechanical, electrical and facility maintenance.
  • Previous leadership in heavy industry with history of an increasing level of responsibility; prior experience maintaining machine shop equipment (machine tools) including mills, lathes, grinders, etc.
  • Basic computer skills MS Office required – prior CAD, PLC and other controls experience preferred. 
  • Continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and quality system experience preferred. 
  • Prior experience with Environmental Health & Safety practice in manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills with shop-level through executive-level employees.
  • Must be able to effectively lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes required to build heavy steel equipment: fabrication, machining, and machine assembly.
  • Must be able to lead group and individual meetings with effective agendas.
  • Capable of handling difficult and stressful situations.
  • Strong coaching skills to council direct reports. 
  • Problem analysis and solving skills that display an attention to detail and ability to find creative solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. 
  • Excellent technical, conceptual, financial, and data analysis/interpretation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to and thrive in Butech Bliss’s culture of strong employee support and team cooperation. 
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, reach, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
