Mechanical Engineering Internship
Summary: The Mechanical Engineering Intern will assist in the design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems, machines, and tools. This role provides hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world projects while supporting the engineering team in research, design, and troubleshooting activities. Approximately 50% of this internship will be spent out in the shop with hands-on learning and practical application of engineering concepts.
Duration: May 2026 – August 2026
Compensation: This is a paid internship opportunity.
Hours Expectations: Requested average of 40 hours per week as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Summary: The Mechanical Engineering Intern will assist in the design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems, machines, and tools. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
- Support research and feasibility studies for new designs and processes.
- Help develop and test prototypes or models under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and prepare preliminary layouts.
- Assist in specifying components and reviewing modifications for compliance with design standards.
- Work with CAD software to create or update design drawings.
- Participate in investigating equipment issues and recommend solutions with supervision.
- Collaborate with engineers and team members to resolve technical challenges.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by engineering management.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Completed coursework in engineering fundamentals and design.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles.
- Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD required; 3D modeling preferred).
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, crouch, push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must meet physical and safety requirements for tool handling.
